How do you cook your turkey?
Lets get all the recipies for cooking Turkey...
me,
Self basting
soak the turkey in a cooler/pot of cold water with 1/2-1c kosher salt, some poultry seasoning, and some chili powder. Soak for 2 days.
pull out and remove giblets and neck, place in a pot with some of the soaking water and bring to a slow boil while the turkey cooks, refill water as it evaporates and then use juices with turkey juices to make gravy.
remove turkey and dry the cavity, then add stuffing or add 1 lg onion and 1 lg bell pepper. rub melted butter all over the turkey and then tie the openings shut. then put in a plastic turkey bag or rub shortening on the inside of a paper grocery bag an salt the inside, then place turkey inside and close the end of the bag after pouring some 1-2quarts of the soak water with chopped onions and peppers inside the bag.
temp and time depend on the size of the bird but you want to get the internal temp of the turkey up to 180+. long cook 275 degrees, shorter cook 350 degrees. no need to baste but you can if you want.

Still got my turkey and have to figure out how the heck me and the animals can eat that whole thing.
I poke a bunch of holes in mine and in each hole goes a seasoned splash of butter, a clove of garlic and a green onion sprig. I cover the turkey in oyster sauce and sesame oil then put it into a bag with onions and more garlic. Comes out juicy and well seasoned every time.

went to my brothers and we deep fried it this year. man thats good. but i can see how easy it is for all those people to start a horrible grease fire and burn down the house. that stuff is dangerous.

he meant the oil, you can reuse the oil, strain it and put it back in the jugs,

I want to try that one of this days. I actually only cooked the breast, the rest is still in the freezer. Since we did not stayed at home for Thanksgiving I made enchiladas the day after and still have a ton of meat left.

we'll deep fry during the year, we inject it with the seasoning and we try all different flavors. The last few years for turkey day we just put it in the nesco; it doesn't brown as well but we don't display the turkey, we're too eager to cut it up and eat! I won't ever dry out a turkey in the over again...
