Hey you INDY REEFER'S!! U OK????????

Shirley, Dad, and all you other reefers down Indianapolis way,,,,saw that a funnel cloud(s) went thru your neck o da woods
(sister in law called me ) said they went into a store in a mall , instead of continuing to the mall across the street, said the store got warm an. muggy and then the familiar "locomotive sound". they hid out in the Petsmart dog grooming area,,, after it passed they went to leave and saw a good part of the mall across the street was LEVELED! "like a bomb went off" cars scattered , debris etc. she called to let us know she and the kids were OK if we saw it on TV,,,, the wife's niece called to say she had just heard about her mom's close call, and they were ok , where they were at,,, later called again to say , i quess the storm had not gotten to them at that time , but now it had! they were getting in their van (going?) winds came thru and picked up the van and flipped it over and away 20 ft.! bottom line , a broken leg,,arm , and getting glass out of someone in the group at the ER,,,,
just wondering how all you fellow Hoosier reefers faired thru this,
hope things are OK,,,check in when you can,,,,,,

everyone here is fine...quite a bit of damage on the south side of the city and a path up the near east side...no fatalities to my knowledge...the only thing we had at work (castleton in the NE corner was heavy rain and wind...
came through about 5 miles from home but no damage there either....
Shirley may have had some wind damage, but no reports of any touchdowns in her area that I heard. Our cable was out most of the afternoon and the office for the cable company is in her neighborhood, so maybe some damage....

we're still filtering all this good information down here...

thanx for checking on us Jeff..

Maybe Shirley will let us know how they fared (about 30 miles north of us)...

GLAD to hear from ya Bob, , was watchin the Indy TV net news from down there, and getting the first hand from all the in-law calls/info . the updates (firsthand) from the van flippin' over deal is worse/scarier than first reported,,,,gettin pinned against a bank building, watching the van get flipped over while her niece was in it was frightening enuf! then a car going into the bank window while she was pinned against the building! hospital tally as of now,,broken arm on one, broken leg on another, 52 stitches (glass) in another, 65 stitches in one more,,,i hear they finally called it a TORNADO glad to hear you and yours are OK hope to hear from others down there, if/when they can!

a Fellow Hoosier Reefer,,,,,
Thought a couple of downed tree limbs(up here) was a pain, during a micro-burst,,,,

Hey there! I logged on just to see if anyone wondered about Indy! (Sorry, been so busy lately I haven't been on board much)

Well, Noblesville just got intense rain and wind, not really bad wind at all. My son at IU had to go to the basement of the university building as they thought Bloomington would be hit, but 20 minutes north Martinsville was hit real bad instead.

My partner in the video business grabbed a flashlight, medicines, and towels, her Great Pyrenees, Labrador, and (the friendliest ever) Pit Bull and crawled into a tiny closet under her stairwell, after shoving her two cats into a kitchen cabinet. 2 minutes later it went right over her (S. Kitley Ave., just north of Southeastern and Troy Aves, S.E. side of Indy) She lives in the back of a 5-acre woods with a very long narrow driveway, which is still completely blocked with trees. Her house is fine, but neighbors on both sides were not so lucky....a large limb thru the roof of on house, and a tree into the back side of the other house, all the way into the room.

My friend managed to get her Escort just barely between trees in the narrow part of the woods behind the house to a field, then drove through the field to get to Noblesville Sat. afternoon for a wedding shoot in Cicero just north of me.

She still has no phone and no power....and her driveway is still blocked with trees...

I'm thinking...it's definitely time for a generator...

My basement closet under the stairs is below our two larger tanks...that could be 225 gallons of salt water tumbling down...I can't even think about it.

Thanks for asking...and I must say, the thought ran through my head several times that if I'd been in New Palestine in the classroom it would have been quite an ordeal making it home to Noblesville, which is 45 minutes on a good day during traffic...

Shirley,
good to hear from you.....Drew had to sit in the hallway for about 40 min during the worst of it, but no serious damage in the area (few limbs etc)....
Glad to hear all is well in Noblesville....glad to hear you're busy...

We just re-opened Chi-Chi's East this afternoon,,,no one injured, but it moved some a/c units around on the roof, took down the parapet wall, and the wall around the dumpster....power was restored this morning and phones back maybe tomorrow...

glad we were out of the way, but obviously some were not quite so lucky
