HELP me with Word!
Does anyone know how to turn off all the little automatic stuff that microsoft Word likes to do when youre trying to type a document? my sister is having a heck of a time typing her resume, because it wants to put spaces where she doesnt want them and indent and put bullets, etc. when she is not asking it to. Can anyone help us? thanks.

Try under the Tools-> Options... You'll have to go through all the tabs to figure out what to check on/off

It's on the "View" tab...just follow the instructions that jonnosteams wrote. Uncheck all the boxes in the "Formatting Marks" section.
It almost sounds like it's putting everything in and Outline format...she can always try the Resume Wizard...Professional or Elegant Resume.

Erin if you open Microsoft word, ( i have xp) it might ( mine does) give you a side bar with a bunch of " do you want to do this" look for "new from template" cllick on that and it shoudl open several options to click on. Look for the " other documents" tab. you shoudl see several templates to choose from including "resume wizard".
i am not sure if this is the same for the older MS systems..

I can send you my resume that has everything entered manually and it can be typed over with the formatting in there if you like. It is usually easier to cut and paste on an existing document then to start from scratch..especially with those stupid bullets.
P.S. Make sure everything on the resume is the truth...that permanent record might be on file someplace

phisnoob, that is what i told my sister; just to use mine (my format), but she has to have her own format that she has in her head; she's just that way. thanks for the offer though!
