Guitar Hero
Anyone playing these games? Any thoughts of the new encore one? I myself think it stinks. I played it once thinking I was going to hear some good ballads from the 80's and got disappointed. You can only unlock 1 character which is on #2, the guitars are the same, can't buy more songs or outfits, and the songs could have been better selected. Basically a downgrade from #2 with a couple (by a couple I mean maybe 3) good songs. My daughter (9 yrs old) likes it but she just likes the fact of playing with the guitar. She's pretty good at it jamming out, dancing, and singing while playing. The second one is by far the best. Hopefully number 3 (release date Oct.) won't be as disappointing as the encore. Maybe someone else likes the songs on the encore. 1 star rating for me especially for the price ($39.99). If the price was lower I would have gave it an over all rating of 2.

Both of my boys play. It's nice to hear them appreciating some of the songs I like.

Dad had one when I was growing up... never could figure it out... fat fumbling fingers. And I still can't beat one song on hard...

Salt-rookie is right. Get a real guitar... there are a lot of free lessons available online. Your fingers can be trained. It only takes practice and patience.

Its NEVER been easier to learn than it is now. There are websites out there that show diagrams known as tabletature, showing you what fret, finger and strings to play to pluck out any of your favorite songs! We had to learn the hard way, but we became REAL PLAYERS! Its so much fun! ALMOST as much fun a reefkeeping! I started keeping tropical fish in 1963, one month after JFK was shot, started the guitar 3 years later! They have seen me through MANY rough times in these long years!

I play the 2nd one with my nephew whenever I babysit. Any game that lets you pretend to play "Surrender" by Cheap Trick, is a cool game to me!
