I'm agin it even though Scots-Irish is a big part of my family tree. When they took George Washington's Birthday away from him and gave it to all the presidents, that soured me on national holidays named for people or foreign culture. I'm all for more holidays but if we do the St. Paddy's thing, then it will be Cinco de Mayo, then something else ad infinitum. If we get another national holiday, let's call it "Americans' Day".

I don't really want to get into politics here...but we need our Congressmen to work on some more serious issues than another day to drink beer!

I dont get government holidays anyway, so it don't matter to me butwe irish need to legalise mayhem

LOL.
I work holidays, except for Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving and Independance Day. I really don't understand why holidays like President's day or labor day should be a day off from work.

just what we need.. another day for government workers to be off and paid by us who have real jobs.. and another day for kids not to go to school.. arg.. now if its a mandatory day off for everyone.. add me to the list.. lol.. but i get 4 days off a year. i don't see how another holiday is going to make much a difference to a whole lot of people...
not to say its not an interesting idea.. but personally i think they should get rid of 90% of the holidays anyway.. lol.

I think what they should do is just make St. Paddy's Day the 3rd Saturday of the month (kind of like Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November)...then we all can party and make fools of ourselves and we have a day to recover!!!
