Oh I know what those are. Thanks!

So if you launch one of those down a hill don't you have to run down and climb back up the hill?

Heh,.. neah - that wouldn't be very fun at all

You go out to a beach cliff, or some hill right next to a lake and chuck it off. The wind coming off the water is going up the hill, and it creates a column of air moving upward, this keeps the plane up.

With the water being cold, and the ground being hot, it also creates an abundance of thermals, large column of air moving way up,... (hot air in the presence of cooler air will rise), if you catch one of these with a more standard glider, it can spec out very quickly (Go up so high you can't see it anymore).

It's how the birds fly without flapping their wings all the time

So if this works 99 percent of the time then what. By the way take your new toy over to the cliffs at La Jolla and check out Scripps Aquarium if you haven't already. The quality of the exhibits is amazing.

anyone know anything about des moines iowa by chance? reef clubs.. work... fun... anything.. fishy shops ... it looks like if i can get the gas money i will be heading out that way in a week or so.. some friends are going to provide me shelter until i can get back on my feet...

well i hate to pop in and run out but i have to get some sleep.. i want to finish getting the apartment cleaned out so i can scrub it down.. i want to be able to leave this next weekend.. matter of fact .. possible saturday at the latest..

still need to break my tanks down too.. think i am just going to give some of the fish away.. hate to do it but i don't think all would survive the trip. the rest i can keep in a bucket or bag them and put them in a cooler.. its a 21 plus hour trip and i plan to make a small detour to see my high school sweetheart.. one part of the trip im excited about.. it will be a nice little visit .. haven't seen her in 10 working on 11 years

anyway.. hope everyone is doing good.. shall pop in again sometime..

I served with a guy back in my Navy days that was from Des Moines. He was so proud that it was voted the most American city.

Doug I'll try and keep the thread a little more butch tomorrow (not the kind that hides a car from a raindrop).

I was thinking maybe Redline vs. regular synthetics, how do you select the right hardwood to match the meat being smoked and maybe cast iron cooking as a crossover to keep the ladies involved.

I use MobilOne syn, then again my cars are just transpo, not performance machines.
Not sure on the wood selection, I did score a bunch of apple wood before daughter moved
I love dutch oven cooking when camping, I been thinking about getting one of them back yard fire pit things just so I can do the DO for some things.
Still lookin to build or buy a smoker, right now with all the Dr bills things have been tight, but I will prevail
