Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!
Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!
Today we take our 16 yr old son, Trevor, to the airport to fly to Germany where he'll live with a family for 3 weeks. 25 Germans came here in March / April to live with 25 families; now our kids go there...They will see the Berlin Wall, go to Austria and spend a day climbing the Alps, visit the Kolner Dom, Heidelberg, Munchen (Munich), Meinz, and more than I can remember. They will tour castles and cathedrals, ride the trains, and take a boat ride down one of the rivers. Troy did this trip two years ago. And of course, they have to speak German!
I hope everyone has a beautiful and happy day!

Shirley...that is very cool. I spent my senior year of high school in Germany as an exchange student. That's a great experience.....bet he'll want to stay longer this time .
Dad-
That would be great. I can use it on the top of the forum!
Gonna be hot (at least for MN) and muggy (not quite like TX) here today. Guess I can't complain too much.
Have a great one, everybody!
Brooke

Morning all! It's a breezy 76 right now, but muggy! Ug.
Shirley, That's awesome! I also spent a summer in Germany with a host family and toured some of Europe. Immersion is the best way to really learn another culture, and he'll have a great time! (Where is he living? The itenerary sounds very familiar... )

Hi All,
Thanks for all the Germany responses - so many of you have gone! How cool! I hope I get to go someday...
He'll be living in Usingen with day trips all over and then two longer trips staying in Hotel Brunnenhof, Munchen and Jugendgaestehaus Salzburg, Salzburg. I think that second one is a Youth Hostel.
Must go to the airport now!
You all take care; he'll have my digital with enough cards to take 500 pics! I hope he takes a bunch! Troy is the photographer and took AWESOME pics. I'll post a pic of Troy in the Alps tonight.
Have a great day!

Good morning all!
I don't think Mother Nature can decide what kind of mood she is in here today; either that or the weather man just goofed again.
Shirley, what a great experience for your boys! I would have loved to go as an exchange student, never got the chance, but I did develop a close friendship with a couple of exchange students at my high school so it's a win-win situation for everyone.

Good Tuesday everyone!
Another 90's kind of day here again but cold front is expected to cool things down for the next few days!
Shirley,
That is a grand experience for Trevor! I got to spend 3 weeks in Germany several years ago when my sister-in-law's husband was in the Air Force. But, travel outside the US, even the most civilized countries, sure makes you appreciate America!
Hope everyone has a great day!

Troy in the Alps
This is Troy, two years ago, hiking in the Austrian Alps with about 25 Americans and 25 Germans...
Trevor's flight left without a hitch!
Have a good evening!
