God help us, it just won't stop...
I was on vacation last week, and every day that we turned on the news there seemed to be another school shooting. Now I just heard that a 13 year old let loose with an AK47 in, oh darn, an M state, Missouri? At least this time noone was hurt.
It tears my heart out about the 5 amish girls, that is just so heart breaking to me... then that teenaged girl whos parents were on Good Morning America. The principal that was shot and killed... the closest one for me was those boys at Green Bay east high that had all that ammo and bombs and plans to have fires at every school exit so noone could escape... I work in Green Bay and a coworkers son goes to that school.
when will it stop? What can we do? Have any of these shootings personally touched any of you? Do you know these families, or do your kids go to these schools?

I have been talking with my wife about our kids' school...and how anyone can pretty much walk in and out of it whenever.
Why the rash of incidents all of a sudden? Copycats?

Very sad business indeed, Especially the Amish tragedy, I just can't get over that one, but sadly it appears that too many parents have no control of there kids, the schools arent a lot of help in my opinion, zero toilerence for behaviours that most of us go thru as kids
, and their propensity to Label kids as this disorder and that malfunction and dose them up on what ever psychotropics drugs are the current fads in psychiatric circles.
Look at the crap hollywood churns out, and the mantra, "Its not your fault, your a victim, you didnt get hugged enough"
30 yrs of the great social experiment has left us circling the toilet bowl in my estimation.
Do i have an answer, no, its way beyond me
For the record, i have firearms, licensed to carry, lock them in a safe, and my kids and grandkids have grown up around them and have been instructed (age appropriate) in how they work and what they are capable of, Education and monitoring goes a long way in my experience

I agree Doug.
The one in PA was so bad, people just want to live a clean life away form the rest of the world and then it even happened there,
It's the world we live in, Nothing is your fault, Our leader have no backbone to pass laws that will take people off the streets, Then I have to place alot of blame on the parents also, They have no idea what the kids are doing half the time.

You are absolutely 100% correct on that one... let's not forget how we have to tell all those kids how "special" they are all the time... they should be so happy that they're normal... Downs syndrom kids are "special", just mho.

Again, I totally agree. I grew up in a house full of firearms and my grandpa hunted religiously. I grew up understanding and RESPECTING firearms, because I was taught what they can do, and yes, I was also instilled with the fear of god to leave them alone, they're not toys. Now I really enjoy shooting sports and I still hold a great respect for what they do... and if I can just throw this little tidbit out there...
people kill people, people put bullets into guns and people pull the trigger. It's not the guns fault.
I want to know how a 13 year old got ahold of an AK47 tho... I've never even seen one.
It really scares me, with nieces and nephews and all of my friends kids... and all of your kids too, cuz we're a family here as well... take care of them and teach them well...

I went to high school with a girl that went to Columbine. It was my senior year, she was a junior and her family had moved to Michigan the year after the shooting. She never really wanted to talk about it, but on the one year anniversary she spoke to the whole school. She was a happy sweet girl, but when she spoke you could see how much pain and fear she hid inside. Going through something like that changes you forever, and it's very sad that these people think this is a solution to their problems.

It is unfortunate that there is usually abuse involved in many of these cases be it from parents or schoolmates that can drive these kids to extremes. School was really bad for me but instead of going violent i just went and got my GED and went to college instead. I was halfway to my 2yr degree when the rest of those schmucks were finally graduating.
People just need to learn to be more kind to each other
