Go Sens!

Any other hockey fans here?

I went to the Sens/Thrashers game last night and watched my Sens thrash the Thrashers It was a good game - both teams played about equally well, IMO - just that the Sens goaltender did a better job!

My Sens are now 5-0 in the regular season and they were 7-0 in the preseason. I think it's gonna be a good year for them!

GO SENS!

Jenn (Hockey - yet another of my addictions!)

We live across the street from the Colorado College venue at World Arena and are going in a couple of weeks. They always field a good team. I just need to understand the rules better.

Welll the Sens lost in a big way last night - 5-3 to Carolina They were close to tying a club record for consecutive wins at the start of the season. Oh well...can't win 'em all (although I'd like them to!)

Hockey's in my blood - I'm Canadian When I found out I'd be moving to the ATL I was thrilled to find out that ATL was getting another franchise - the Thrashers. I don't get to many games - usually only when the Sens are in town - and once I went when the Leafs came (they're my ex-husband's home team). Initially the games we went to had more "visitor" fans than home team fans, but Atlanta has developed a pretty decent fan base.

The first few games I went to I was either surrounded by fans of the visiting team, OR I spent most of the game explaining what was going on to the stranger who happened to get the seat next to me! Not anymore. Atlanta fans know their game, and love their team and that's a good thing.

The arena was only about 2/3 full the other night though... that's too bad. When Ottawa got their franchise back in '92, it was sold out for the first several YEARS. They began in a smaller stadium while the (now) Scotiabank place was being built (first it was called the Palladium, then renamed Corel Centre, now Scotiabank Place), but even when the larger stadium was complete, it was sold out for ages - and tickets were NOT cheap.

I got a half price deal here for tickets - $29 for 2 cheap seats - very affordable.

Perry - you should go to a game if you can - undoubtedly a friendly fan will help you figure it out if you're not sure what's going on. It's fast-paced and very exciting (at least IMO!) Being at a game is so much more fun than watching it on TV.

Colorado is currently in 7th place in the Western Conference - but the season just got started. Lots of great hockey coming up! They're playing in St. Louis tonight (the Avalanche are) and those teams are evenly matched. Should be a good game!

It's the most wonderful time of the year (aside from playoffs!)

Man, I go into withdraws between Cup finals and the start of the season! I am so glad that it is back and I am glad that I am not the only Hockey fan on this board!!!

We made the trip to Atlanta the year before last to go to the Aquarium and to a Trashers/Canes game. All was going good until we got back to the parking lot where our car was parked. It was gone! Stolen!

I have not been back to Atlanta since.

No worries, Chris! I didn't get to watch the game, but if the Canes won, they outplayed the Sens. All's fair in love and hockey!

I can just as easily acknowledge another team's win as my own - if they play well and win, they deserve the victory.

Even the Thrashers had their moments the other night - they played a good game, but in the end one goaltender was better than the other

Sens were playing Gerber in Goal. He did not play all that well. I was meesing with the tanks and didnt get to watch all of it. The parts that I did watch looked like the Sens were not playing up to par.

Well they put Elliott in for his first NHL game on Wednesday night and he kicked butt and took names. Perhaps they should have started him last night?

Emery got sent to the minors for 2 games because he's still rehabilitating from his wrist surgery in the off-season. Hopefully he'll be back soon.

Gerber did a fine job up til now but he likely needed a rest - that's why he was out Wednesday night - I guess he wasn't up to the challenge last night.

I guess we all have a bad day now and then

Gerber was just scared to go against his old team... Was he on the Stanley Cup Champions team 2 years ago?? I do think that he was. Oh well.

seasalt - when I lived out there there wasn't a whole lot around the arena - I daresay it's built up some since then, but at least the arena isn't right in the frikking middle of downtown like it is here in Atlanta.

I live in the 'burbs - sort of what Kanata might be to Ottawa, relative to the city here - but driving into downtown at rush hour to get to a game SUCKS. Getting out again isn't much better either.

I would bet that the worst Ottawa traffic doesn't hold a candle to a good day here in the ATL.

When it rains it's even worse - and if there's a threat of 4 snowflakes actually touching the ground in a 100-mile radius, EVERYTHING closes down, and you can't buy bread or milk anywhere - even people who don't use bread or milk stock up on it and clear the store shelves.

It's kinda funny, really
