I had a second test done and my IO Hydrometer reading was .015 higher than the refractometer. He has a refractometer that the guy called a "lab grade" that comes with calibration fluid that I thought was a Sabo brand for 100 dollars. Is that too much?

There is another one they can order, brand unknown, that is around 50 dollars.

He is smart. He is hiding so your hubby can't make you take it back.

Can he drive though?

and the closest hydrometer I've seen so far was .003 off

worst was .020

and they were the same brand
I think you can calibrate them by spinning the plastic disk on the swing arm

fish.freak and KIA, what brands are they? The guy in the store told me the Sabo (not sure if that is right or not, I didn't write it down and my memory, what was I saying?) was a "lab quality" and expensive. They have had it for a while now. I think I will go back tomorrow and talk to the owner about them. I know this much, I want one if Hydrometers are worth what I think they are (The 12-gauge idea is starting to sound good about now).

Now, it makes me want to call Rob and find out for sure what brand it was I looked at. I can't find a "Sabo" brand on Google.

just do a search for salinity refractometer
it's coming out of a lab surplus store in CA
they have an action ending every 6 hours it seams
so don't get into a bidding war

there are different models
the lab grades cost more
but for the hobbyist, the most you'll be off is around .0005
