If I can wake up before they close, I am going tomorrow to get some LR. Just plain rocks to start the cycle with. The "rock" is one I bought a few weeks ago without a tank to put it in. It has 3 (to me) large groups of brown featherdusters. Then it has 3 or 4 bluish-white things that look like itty bitty featherdusters although I am not sure what they are. Then it has two things on it that look like a half a ball that are green and about 3/4" in diameter. They aren't LPS (I learned last night the difference between LPS and SPS). It is part of the camera thing. I want to go take pictures of them and see if somebody can tell me what they are.

As for the cycle, I will get some small pieces of LR to do the cycle with. But, I want to wait until the first cycle is over before adding my "rock". If I kill the critters on a 100 dollar rock, Doug will hear me in Oregon from Florida because I won't be happy about it.

Adding it after the initial cycle will cause a mini-cycle but I think I stand a better chance of keeping them alive that way. Of course I could be wrong. It is why I joined TRT, so I could ask questions like that from people that know

I took this one with the Kodak:

It has a Close In feature but no tulips on the camera.

I took this one of the same tank with my Mavica FD100:

Both look like they'll do ok - are you using the flash? I'm wanting a new camera too... The one I have has an underwater macro setting that does ok - but whenever I don't use the flash - the close ups get fuzzy and when I do use the flash - they're whited out!

That was no flash with the PC light on that is on the tank. I will try it again in daylight to see what difference they do.
