I still use the IO hydrometer at home I calibrated it w/ a refractometer and it .001 off as long as its consistent Im ok with it.

How often do you calibrate it? Right now, mine is off .0015 based on the LFS refractometer reading and my IO Hydrometer. That is fine with me until I can get a refractometer.

I just spent 60.00 on a fish an 1 1/2 long - I'm quite familar with having an unhappy spouse

I have exceeded 5 times that much since I woke up yesterday. Not including a refractometer. All on a fish tank and supplies for it. No, she isn't going to be happy.
