From Baker Company in Iraq: We Remember
This was emailed to the staff at my husband's school by a teacher who has a son in Iraq. Here is the message plus photo. Notice how 9-11 is made. If you want the original, much larger file, please email me and I'll send it to you. ssmorgan@insightbb.com
Jon "Baker 10" and Evan "Baker 9",
How are you all doing? The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute to our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is by taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country.

Is there a way we could send them e-mails with pictures? They might like to hear news from all around the country. We could send them pictures of our tanks and try to bring a little happiness to their world. I would like them to know that WE haven't forgotten them either.
Just a thought.

Thanks...when I first saw this picture and then realized how they did the 9-11 --- it just sent chills all over and I just felt empty inside for our lost servicemen and women.
I don't have his email address and don't know what kind of Internet speed they have over there...it was forwarded to the staff from one of the teachers without his email address.
Her son is actually in the Air Force over there, not in Baker Company.

i received the photo today in an email, but sent from a different unit.
i gather that's a hoax and not really sent from baker company, but it could be. seems more like a chain letter, send this to 10 people you know, etc..
either way, its the best chain letter i've ever received, and the first that i gladly sent on to my friends and family
whoever it is and wherever it was taken, to me, is irrelevent at this point. it's the message and the thoughts behind it that count.

This did not say to send to 10 people, etc etc. The entire body of the email is above. It could easily be that anyone over there is sending this out - why wouldn't they? ....I personally don't see that it's the work of Photoshop.

oh, now.. dont get me wrong. i can see that the photo itself is real. i just mean the body of the email.
i received the same email today, or rather the same photo, different subject, different company. and had the standard, send this to 10 poeple you know, and you will receive good luck etc...
perhaps someone has just gotten hold of it and turned it into a chain letter.
eitehr way, i belive the photo is legitimate, and brought a tear to my eye when i first saw it.

Chances are the photo originated some where, was shared with several others and over time its fallen victim to the old whispered secret syndrome
All of that aside it is still a powerful image, I still get chills looking at it
