Frickin movies
Man, I'm watching this movie and people are slinging around these gold bricks like they're made of balsa wood (which they probably are) but I know that those full-sized bricks weigh like 20 kgs each. That'd rip through your pants pocket and break your foot. And this kind of thing happens in SO MANY movies. Are they stupid, or do they think we are? I know they can't pick up that crate full of gold bricks with their bare hands. Who are these guys, the builders of Stonehenge???
Go to hell, hollywood!
And what was up with that movie Armageddon? Science, BEGONE!!!!
Bruckheimer can make a pretty good TV show, but ****, some of his movies are just intolerable.
Knowledge may be power, but it sure can ruin a good action flick.

It would take the average person both hands to pick up 1 gold brick so a cratefull is out of the question. Movies are always full of bs to make them more interesting. Speaking of gold one movie I saw, the name escapes me, had dump trucks in it to take away the gold from a robbery. They were filled up to the top with gold bars. The weight of those bars surpases what the trucks could haul. It did make for a good movie and thats all they're after. If you like calling movie mistakes go to:

The ultimate puny car is the Renault 5 Turbo 2 as seen in Never Say Never Again driven by the girl in the chase scene with a motorcycle. Why have a little transverse 1.3 liter motor up front when you can rip out the entire back of the car and convert something the size of a Geo Metro into a rear wheel drive powerhouse with well over 200 hp.
Oops...what was the topic again?

Armegedon was the most entertaining of the genre, I never expected hard factual science, esp not from a movie

My Favorite has to be the new war of the worlds. I liked the movie alot it was fun to see. But I gotta say Tom Cruise has more live then 10 cats and the ending with a patch of Boston not Destroyed and the kid still alive hmmm a super power alien race cares more about destroying Altamont New York then Boston Mass. I still liked it though.

I meant my knowledge of these things ruins movies for me.
Yeah, I know they're movies and all, but sometimes it seems like they don't even try. Science fiction should contain both science and fiction, but a balance is important too. I dunno, I should probably just get over myself.
Oh yeah, and mini coopers are sweeeet!

Well I have no first hand knowledge of space travel, hard rock drilling or hands on with nukes, so I dont sweat the little details, I watched it for entertainment(read escapist) plus I like Bruce Willis, and Liv Tyler. It was the first movie I saw that I started to appreciate BBT, I thought the scene where they gave him the mission patch was heart rending, but then I can be a sentamental fool at times.
I feel your pain though, my wife is constantly telling me to shut up as I critique shootouts in movies we are watching, you know those little things like guy getting shot with a 9mm and flying across the room, Hi powered Rifles and Revolvers with "silencers" that barely make a cough, and M16s that fire rock and roll for 5 min on a 20 round magazine
I love the look of the new Mini, kept the flavor of the classic but hopefully the powerplant(BMW175 SC) works better than the original. My old original had the 1 liter Coventrey Climax engine(lotus twin cam style 110hp from 1000cc) it was a hoot to drive hard and race 356 and 912s in the rain, but typically british it was drive and wrench
