Can I get fries with that
Don't snakes tend to swallow prey head first?

Doug1,
Yes normally they will swallow a prey item head first, but its not a requirement. They just end up haveing to work a little harder at swallowing it. I have two drop dead goregous Gayana Red Tail Boas (Female 6ft Captive Bred, Male 4.5 ft imported - wild caught) and they eat tail first on more than a few occasions

Stang69,
Thats a pretty unique shot of an obviously 10ft or so Burmese Python that had a Guinie Pig for a "scooby Snack". Did you see the 49 footer in the news a few days ago? So much for the 27 foot suggested max size huh? Guess that theory is pretty much blown out of the water!

Doug if they do swallow head first it makes things easier everything folds down to make it easier to swallow

Ok, so is this pic real or not? To me, if it was real, you would see the expanse in the neck as it moved the body down to the stomach. But, I see no expanse at all. To me, it looks more like he is yawning. So, just curious if this pic is real or not.

Yeah thats the snake I was talking about! With one that size even I would be on the "menu"!!!

Hard to say with the angle that the pic is taken. If its a real guienie pig then said snake has to be about an 8 to 10 footer! The snakes jaw has been disconnected to facilitate eating and all though the angle is bad, it appears that the neck is cocked very simular in the way mine get when they are eating. If its a "doctored pic" then it is well done. The thing that catches my eye is the fact that the ears are folded over to the inside, disconnected jaw and cocked neck.

Just my observations.....

My son showed me that pic from SomethingAwful forum recently. Our snakes' lips curl like that as they swallow, and they always eat head first...

Is it real? Well, it could be...but coming from SA, it might not be...and it may well not have originated on SA and might be real.

The lower lip is very true to how they contort as they push the prey down their throats.

Hard to say, I have seen snake's yawn and look like that. I did take note of the ears, and the small shadow on the the mouth from the tongue inside, which does lead one to believe it is a real photo. Who knows..none the less...it is a disturbing picture.

No more disturbing than feeding a goldfish to a lion fish. Would I share any of the pics of my snake eating? Very doubtful unless someone specifically wanted to see them, its a very touchy feely world these days. I realize that some people would have a problem feeding a sweet soft fury cute rat to a "evil" snake. But hey, my snake has to eat too! But in all honesty I dont particularly enjoy feeding live to my snakes so I normally wean them over to pre-killed frozen ones. At least its a little more humane in my opinion. Not much more different than you or I going down to the store and getting a fish fillet...JMHO.
