With the very strong winds last night the Thompson River fire exploded into high gear and 120 families in O'Brien Creek in the Fish Creek Drainage system were given a mandatory evaculation orders this morning at 9:30AM. This is one of the most beautiful drainage system around. It has one of the oldest and largest ponderosa pine tree known in Montana down by the river. Pat and I have had a picnic in the grass right next to this tree! The fire had increased by 7,000 acres!!
Also the smoke is due back into the Missoula valley very shortly!! I guess we are not out of the woods(so to speak) yet!!
Prayers go to these families in hope they do not lose their homes and are safe!
