Firefox: I knew it was too good to be true...
A recent conference of the German Chaos Computer Club hacker group in Europe included a discussion of an Adobe Acrobat Reader flaw that affects both Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers. While initially thought to only cause exposure to random code on Web sites, the vulnerability can also expose the contents of a user's local hard drive to hackers. To address the problem, upgrade to Adobe Reader 8 immediately.,,,
just thought you folks would be interested...

Meassure the time IE has been out and its reported vulnerabilites /
compared to the life of FF and its vulns
then ask yourself,
is it really your fault a third party vendor makes your product viable?

Looks like its an Adobe Issue rather than a weakness in FIreFox. Security on puters is an ongoing issue.
Think of it like the enemies of autos are wear and tear and being hit by another car or vehicle. Now now a Ford Festiva or Geo Metro will get you to the same place as a nice Beemer, but which is going to last longer if you do your part, and safer if some hacker/impaired driver does his thing

This is an Adobe issue not a FF issue.

Its also a bimmer unless you are talking about a BMW motorcycle lol. And Adobe is going to do what to compensate for their screw up? Assuming people obviously had damages done...

amen.
The issue is a simple upgrade for adobe and it affects all software that uses it for .pdf files, not intended as a kick to FF, only that this exposes several flaws that any secondary vendor brings to your OS when utilizing another application within yur primary.
just FYI for FF folks that prior to now have felt (at least I did) more protected from these attacks than when using IE
