Not an option  This small trip is a test to see if this car will make a longer trip next weekend to Yuma, and the Yuma trip is to make sure the car will make an even longer trip to Vegas the weekend after. All this was of course building up to the IL trip,.. but that's cheaper to fly.

Thanks LRN,.. The smog control switch seems to work kinda,.. it's still not perfect, still runnign a little ruff but I really don't want to pay $156 for this part expecially since the 8 I've tested are all bad in one way or another. Makes me think it's not a very reliable part. I choose to ignore this problem for now.
The AC is all together again,.. I vac it down tonight and test for leaks and operation,... but this system hasn't been pressurized in about 5 years,.. and all the parts in it came from different cars in junkyards 6 years ago,.. plus the parts I replaced last night came from junkyards,.. so I'm far from sure if any of this junk works anymore.
My car didn't come with AC,.. SO I installed the whole system myself from wrecked cars,.. everything right down to the little button you push.
I still remember my dad talking on the phone to his parents years ago saying "Well I sold him the car, and now he's buisy installing all the options I couldn't afford when I bought it! (pause other end of the phone talking) He's getting the parts from wrecked cars!". I think he was jellos that he didn't come up with the idea lol.
