DUH... I failed to mention...
Okay, so without thinking this morning, I posted in the daily thread about being on the west coast and dealing with "arrangements."
Well... I failed to realize that I didn't announce the death of my father. So, yes... earlier this week my fater passed away. Ive been out here (California and Nevada) with the family. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Everything is going okay... Im well. Took care of cleaning up his property today and picking up personal belongings. Im going to be driving across country so Ill be on and offline.
Thankyou again for your concern...

Drop us a road report every now and then I don't envy the circumstances, but I envy the drive opportunity...
Let us know how the drive progresses.
Carpe dies, tracto iam , occupo dies, my friend.

Tony- I'm sorry to hear about the death of your father. You remain in my prayers for comfort, Tony. Be safe and enjoy the drive....it is a great way to see our nation, even if the reason for the drive is sad.

I thank you all for the thoughts... My father and I never really had much of a relationsip. A few months back we had a really good talk about he good/bad. I told him that I forgive him, he told me he loved me, we both cried like babies and went on. We had closure so Im doing okay with it all.
On a side note, Im really looking forward to the drive home! I left in such a rush that I forgot my camera!!!! I think Im going to go out and buy one before I leave (I wanted a new camera anyway...lol). Cant wait to see the sights! Due to the season, I think Im going to take the "south route" across to avoid snow/ice in the mountians. Once I get on the road (and get a new camera), Ill start a "Drive across country" thread for pics and updates. Anyone have any recommendatins? Id like to do the Grand Canyon and maybe find a few key Aquariums to stop at.... Ill just have to see how it goes. Ive got all next week off of work so Im going to take my time.... anyway... Ill keep you all posted. Service today is at 1:30 (4:30EST)

Tony- It's good of you to report back to us. I'm glad that you and your father had a chance to have a good talk about things
One thing I must mention...watch out for Donner Pass Honestly, years ago when my folks were driving in that region in the summer, there was a sudden snow storm while they were on the pass

Tony so sorry to hear about your Father. I'm glad you to were able to make peace with him. If you go through Las Vegas Check out the West Rim of the Grand Canyon It's an Indian reservation (no frills, no commercialism, no guard rails)! http://www.destinationgrandcanyon.com/pressrelease.html
it was absolutely amazing !

Glad you made peace with your father..
I am currently persona non grata after running off with Christy, turning down the Naval Academy appointment, rolling the 67 deluxe bus, joining the Navy and having the cops come to collect a 500 dollar beer tab forged at the Country Club and various other crimes and if my dad passed now it would not be right.
I am not a religious guy, but you and your father getting to clear the air had some sort of reason, and good for the both of you. Having that happen is something that will be one of the precious bookmarks in your life.
You are the guy driving the family now and I am sure you will do well. You gotta mourn, and you gotta take care of business. My best wishes
