Driveway Pavers

Hi guys I want to put pavers down that are 2 in thick in a 8x 21 ft area to park my new car on.Will the pavers support it? Do I need to put something down under the pavers first to help hold the cars 2200 lbs??

The pavers won't break, but they might settle unevenly if on bare ground.
If it's on existing slab or always-dry hardpack, no worries. Keyhole pavers are great.

On bare, new ground, depending on soil bearing capacity,
you need zero to 2" of crushed gravel, followed by decent compaction.
I have no experience setting loose pavers on ground subjected to frost/thaw cycles...

dunno how badly that shifts/softens the ground...
but you're in Florida ....doh.

Thanks dude I will put 2 in of gravel on the ground first and use a tap to tap it flat
and then the pavers and some pourable concrete in the joints.

I have not done it myself before, but I have seen it done. I would dig down to allow a 2"+ crushed stone base that is on nice flat compacted soil, then get one of those compactor machines and pack down the crushed stome so it is very nice and flat, allow some slope for water drainage. Then put the pavers down and compact them.

Home Despot has a clinic on doing this, might check their schedule and see if they are offering a class any time soon.

Seems like when we did it, we had to brush fine sand between the pavers to "lock" them into place, and then lock the formation into place with a metal edge guard (which can then be backfilled with soil or a concrete curb flush with the pavers, or at a slight angle to improve drainage.
