Dream Team...nay nay
I am not sure if anyone cares about this but our multimillion dollar pro basketball team got there heinies kicked by Puerto Rico in the Olympics. I love underdogs!!!!! A little more teamwork and a little less "me" would have helped matters.

It would help if some of the "better" players were a little more patriotic and less money hungry and went.
That being said,I miss the days when it was all college players and we still beat the rest of the world......
Although the level of play now is a LOT better than it was even 8 years ago.

I agree. You can't put a bunch of superstar players on a team together and expect them to play as a team. Each player wants to steal the show and it hurts the team overall. My father and I were discussing this last night and he is cheering against the US team just for that reason.

They arent ALL that bad,at least one (Tim Duncan) is by far one of the best and most unselfish players Ive seen.

I have been catching bits and pieces of the Olympics and with the advent of electronic timing down to the nano second and instant tape replay, it seems that rather than celebrating these athletes that are at the top of the class its all about nitpicking and stuff, watching synchro diving, the announcers SUCK

Synchro diving??? That sounds about as exciting as that event in the winter where they ski and go shoot whatever that is.
My favorite guy in the Olympics is "The Eel". He swims a full eight seconds slower than any other guy there. I think he is from French Guinea or something like that but good for him.

I had never seen synchro diving before and was checking it out.
Hold on to your hats, I like Ice Skating, specially womens ,pairs and ice dance, watch some of the stuff they do, while hauling A on 12" razor blades
Biathalon is kinda boring to watch unless you have xcountry skiied and shoot. It's a Scandinavian martial art evolved from wartime experiences, the 10th Light takes it pretty serious

Hey! I LIKE Biathalon!
The only winter sort where you mix finesse and endurance.
Beats the heck out of trying to road cycle on ice in the off season...

We went to shoot clay pigeons in the winter. We could not exactly run as it was pure ice and we were so cold our hands got sticky to the shotguns. Then to top it off none of us could cross the road except one guy with some awesome shoes that gripped so he had to hold our hand crossing the road like a little kid.
Biathlon might be tougher than it looks.
Now ice skating is okay but if you are a guy watching solo guys then um....well not that there is anything wrong with that

I missed the basketball game. I wish I had seen it. Sounds like the USA team wasn't much of a dream. Though I'm glad to hear that Tim Duncan did well. He was a good player for the Demon Deacons. I heard part of an interview on the radio this afternoon. Oscar Robertson sounded like he wasn't too impressed with our guys. A bunch of stars not playing together. What an embarrassment.
Is there another hoops game to watch in the Olympics? When?

I've never liked the fact that professional athletes were allowed in the Olympics. I know the reasoning was to counteract the state-funded training programs in other countries, but it's the difference in attitude between pro and amatuer that always gets to me. Personally I've always felt that the endorsements top amatuer teams and athletes can garner makes up some of the difference between foreign state-funded programs and ours.
I've been an Olympics junky ever since I was a kid; I really hate to see the joy athletes take in their sport and the celebration of sport itself slide downhill (and I know some sports have been sliding for years) but I guess in a perfect world....
And I like the Biathalon too
