Dog houses
so temps are dropping fast and winter is coming along.
now my question is..i built my lab a dog house about 5 years ago. since then we have put some new boards on it and make it better. i now have another lab.
so 2 labs.. one dog house..which they do share for the most part..but seems when it rains one is always half hanging out. so i was thinking of buying plywood to setting that up around the dog house..which would leave a bigger area outside blocked in...
i know its kinda hard to explain it...but in my mind..i have it figured out.just wondering if any of you have any other ideas.
i really just want to expand the area so if one doesnt want to be in the dog house..it can sleep next to the dog house and still be out of the rain/wind.

Soooo...you want to make a car-port for your dog house? Sounds ok to me. My dog is inside so I can't really give too many suggestions on dog houses. I have seen those cool, dogloos. Looks like an Igloo, but it is a plastic dog house.

yeah..my youngest lab..he likes to tear up plastic.
my older lab..riggs..he is 5..he used to be inside til i got married and moved out. then i was thinking ahead..when we have children i dont want all that dog hair everywhere... so i had him go outside...then i got him a friend.. so now 2 labs.
i just want to make it a tad dryer and block the wind.
my husband thinks im crazy and wants to use tin but i dont know if i could do what i want with the tin.
i wished i could have them back inside...
thanks for replying though

I say you build an addition off the side of the dog house. Make it 3 sided...Roof (tack this to the other roof at the peak), then a back and a side...just like a car-port on a house. I think it will work out fine.

Heh, remove the closed end away from the door, add a few more frames, and skin it over with plywood. If you're careful, you'll be able to reuse the closed end you removed.

I'm impressed that at 15 you built a dog house. My kids would rather let the dig freeze than put any effort into protecting them.

These are the plans we ordered for making a dog house. Still waiting fot them to arrive only been a few days.
They are insulted and look really nice. A lot of thought put into them.
