Pet Food Recall Expands to Dry Food Maker
Testing Continues to Determine Cause of Poisonings

By ANDREW BRIDGES
AP
WASHINGTON (March 31) - Federal testing of recalled pet foods turned up a chemical used to make plastics but failed to confirm the presence of a cancer drug also used as rat poison. The recall expanded Friday to include the first dry pet food.

NOT dry

The recall of contaminated pet foods expanded Saturday to include a new brand, even as investigators puzzled over how a chemical called melamine would kill dogs and cats.
Nestlé Purina PetCare Co. said it was recalling all sizes and varieties of its Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy wet dog food with specific date codes.

I can only find a recall on the wet Science Diet
Menu Foods, the Ontario, Canada-based company that produced the pet food, yesterday expanded its recall of pet food sold across North America, including Iams, Eukanuba and Science Diet.

The recall covers the company's "cuts and gravy" style food, which consists of chunks of meat in gravy, packaged in cans and small foil pouches between Dec. 3 and March 6.

Michelle, my fiance' is a veterinarian and she told me now to feed only wet not affected by the recall until her plane lands. She is having her fellow vet-ettes over tomorrow and they are cooking up a ton of homemade cat food.

I'll post the recipe, and be right pissed if they eat better then I do.

The official word distributed to vets is just the Science Diet M/D prescription brand.

Here's a list of the CAT foods, but please know that since this list was made more types/foods have been added or are being questioned.

Here are the DOG foods, again to be sure to check current updates to see if your brand name and/or type of pet food isn't added.
