HaHa! You sound like me talk'n to my buddies or something.
Im on TRT when im at work, or if im home and shes at work. I never get on when she's home cause i have to hear about how i never spend time with her, or all i care about are my stupid tanks.... Blah Blah... She used to really be into the tanks as much as me thats the sad part... Oh well though.

I have three expensive hobbies pared down from six from when I was single (can't play GOLF any more, cycling and running is kinda out as well, and SCUBA requires that I be able to climb into the boat sometimes... ) Over time, I have found that I need something that requires brainpower in another direction besides aiming it toward what I do at work every day for 12 to 14 hrs a day. Mel has always been most appreciative of the three hobbies I still pursue (the tanks, the track/driving, and photography in that order), as she says it keeps me close without being "too close" . We make time for each other's outside pursuits so that we don't burn out on what we both do for careers yet still have time for each other and our family/friends. Everyone MUST find a balance of self, mate, and family lives to make it all work with some sense of success.
Talking about it, enjoying our circle of friends, and making time for just each other at least every few weeks is what helps keep the hobby from becoming a stumbling block in the relationship. This is especially true if you live in an area where there are few that share your same interests to start with, and work takes you away from convenient calling to your circle of friends most days. This makes it all bearable. I include Mel in our travels to areas to participate in reef-related gatherings, or to do a talk, or in new specimen acquisition trips whenever possible, as she enjoys the trips and explorations as well. Then there are the restaurants...
That and an occasional skimmate beer...

ok , no my husband doesn't get mad. He is happy i have found a place that helps me get more into the hobby. My other hobbies cost alot of $$$ (I know the malls of my state like the back of my hand and my fave stores lets just say i am friends w/ the managers yes I love to shop I can spot a deal a mile a way) When I am on trt I don't shop and when I do I'm at the fish stores so it is something we both love.
Not all of us estrogen types are catty or love drama.Usually those who are catty or have issues with women also have jelousy problems.
For most people who get upset its just that your the most important person, place or thing in their life at that moment so they want you to show them that they in return (by you giving them your undivided attention) are the most important person place or thing in your life. When you have to repeat the same question 3 times before your other half even notices you said something, a person tends to get cranky and complain. Hey you could look at it this way and say at least they care enough to complain they have not just walked out.

must agree. Tom, that really was a GREAT post.
I think learning that your time apart is almost as valuable as time together, is one lesson I wished I'd learned sooner. I can chalk up a few failed relationships due to that oversight on one or the other's part.
