Hey Johnny,
Pat's good checkup is wonderful news! Way to go!
I've been fortunate to know many doctors on a personal level (and, of course, as a patient). The thing to remember is that they are people, too, with families, friends, and problems just like us. Most are very dedicated and in medicine to help people. That many become wealthy is a side benefit. Of course, just like any cross section of society, some are less dedicated and some downright arrogant, but the vast majority are good and caring people.
The pressures on drs. are enormous......what they do is often a matter of life or death....literally; even the GP who routinely just treats coughs and sniffles but occasionally has to recognize when a cough is a symptom of something much more serious. Long hours; bureacratic red tape; insurance restrictions; and the ever-present threat of a lawsuit.
I am very blessed to have had the benefit of some wonderful doctors, not just for me, but especially for FishGirl, who came into this world 6 weeks early with some very serious kidney problems. Thanks to those very caring and exceptional doctors, she is alive and quite healthy today.
Johnny; about that work thing.........I've always said:
"Employment is good"!!!
Dick
