Using a Olympus 5050,,,with the UW housing made for it by Olympus,,,every function on the camera can be used with the housing buttons,,which makes it nice,,,compared to the Canon A1 35mm i used prior,,,,,w/ Ikelite housing,,,,

Sounds like you are looking into UW only cameras,,,,
I shopped around for mine, finding a housing for one ,after i kinda picked out the digital camera i wanted ,,and made sure i could get both,,,,

We have a decent HP that we are content with for now. My friend just purchased the new sea life cam and we are debating between the sealife and the olympis with a housing. The sea life takes good pics out of the water too I am concerened about the digital lag time.

Jumkzoo, I have exactly the same setup. Been diving with it for the past 4 years now and it's great. Good news is that you can get the updated version for a lot less now. Strongly recommend going digital with underwater housing, espcially if you are not a seasoned underwater photographer. It is very helpful to be able to see the pic you just took and be able to adjust instantly. I'll post some examples if you'd like.

Canon's underwater housings are very easy to use and so far dependable. I have an old canon powershot that I use and have taken it down to 30m without any problems. I am getting ready to get a housing for my canon s70 now that my powershot has survived numerous dives and many bumpy free dives. Plus they are reasonably priced. I got mine for about 200$. Ike's for SLR's are as much as the SLR!
