I am watching s show called "Rebuilding a Race Car Legend"

ITs about the new Ford GT and how they brought it to life in 15 months, lots of old film of the original GT40, Having grown up in the era of the original GT40 and the the Shelby Cobra roadster, I love seeing this stuff

I guessed you wrong Doug..thought you were the man for the job for how to hop up a flathead Ford.

Hehehehe, No flatheads were a bit before my time, I grew up in the era of small block chevies and fords, tho I have a fond spot for the midsized mopars with hemis.

The sweet thing about the GT40 is that ford took a proven 7 liter engine and built the car around it, to take on Ferrari and whip the butts on the endurance tracks, thats basically a leaned on hard 427 overhead valve competing with the hi end, hi tech V and Boxer 12s that Enzo and Ferry used in the world class cars.

Same with the ulimate Cobra roadsters, Carrol shoved big engines in the little british body then tweaked em till they worked

I love that **** stubborn rednek 'merican kick ass attitude, to bad its being bred out nowadays

Yep Ford vs. Ferrari was something I wish I was around for. I was four at the time and still building tinker toys instead of motors.

Racing is so sterile now. NASCAR is all the same thing with different plastic bodies and with the demise of the IMSA GTP series it is hard to care. That was something that Carroll took on the big boys and kicked some butt.

]Sadly thats so true in so many areas, to be a privateer and take on the bigs in spite of life being legislated to the point of boredom, the hi tech intant data version of the good old boy network, requires a drive that would prolly get most people commited and cojones of brass and steel.

its been interesting following the evolution of automobile tech over the years.
I had a friend back in the early 70's, hell of a Harley mechanic, who also loved Ferrari , Lamboughini, and Maserati cars with their exotic multi cylinder twin cam hi revving screaming engines, but when it came to bikes he would die before he would ride a Honda 750-4 or a Kawasaki Z1-R even though for a 1/3 the price of an AMF built bike they would runaway from the antique iron and prolly not break down
