didn't know THIS was possible.... >^..^<

ok so when i got the new kitten, my cat who had lost her litter a month or more ago, acted liek this was her baby coming back to her....contantly supervising her every move, bathing her, and even laying down for the kitten to "nurse"...we though "aww how cute, no milk, but the cat & kitten seem to enjoy the closeness of it, so who cares"

now get this....she's "nursed" the kitten so much, HER MILK CAME IN!!!

is this bad? what age should the kitten stop nursing? she's almost 3 months old now... the *real* momma cat is here too, and doesn't seem to be jealous, as she was done weaning anyway....but is it bad for a kitten to keep recieving milk? or can it be a good little extra boost?

i know plenty about nursing human babies, but not a whole lot about cats.....cat people? your oppinions??

Cool, Anne-Marie! I think your cats will know more about this than we humans so just let them use their own best judgment!

i called the vet's office...she said i could seperate them, 'cos the kitten *should* be eating real food & not nursing...but she eats regular food & if i seperated them, they'd howl and the neighbors would prolly think i was skinning cats up here. i told the vet i'm just gonna let them do whatever feels right & she said it's not really a problem

I think if the 'Mother" is in good condition, then let them have thier fun. It won't likely last very long anyhow as the Moma is gonna get tired of kitties little needles using her as a pincushion.
