D-Day, The Sixth Of June, 1944

Sixty four years ago today, Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy, gaining a foothold from which to invade Nazi Fortress Europe.

Among the hundreds of ships in the largest naval armada ever assembled, the Liberty Ship Jeremiah O'Brien ferried men and equipment across The English Channel to those bloody beaches. It's on display in San Francisco.



Please take a moment today to remember and honor those who fought and the many who died on that Longest Day.
