D-Day, The Sixth Of June

Today is a day to reflect and remember that fateful day in 1944, D-Day, June 6th, when allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy to begin the ending of WWII in Europe. We should also remember and honor all those who fought, gave their lives, or were wounded to secure the beach head on that day.

My grandfather was wounded on the beach. Took a round that hit his spine and left him paralyzed. He died years later from complications from the bullet that they were unable to remove due to the medical technology of the time.

I know I post this picture a lot but it being D-Day it's really fitting and a reminder of the cost to be free and share that dream with the world

What an amazing feat. They replayed Ronald Reagan's speech about the boys who landed that day, and the men that made it to the top of the cliffs and it was touching. That was a different era full of different people and I can only hope that we continue to respect veterans in the same manner.

It is unimaginable to think men landed on that beach and did what they did against those odds.

My father was over there and got the purple hart and died 5 yrs ago!He never really talked about it(saw some bad stuff).
