I used to have a 5' blue spruce in the front of my last house that I decorated every year. Complete with lights, start & ornaments
It was kind of cool to have a living tree

No tree here....Blitz will never know the difference. I'll get her and the cat stockings full of junk the day after Christmas on sale though.

I love this thread. Kelli!! I love the way you've done the tree and your curtains. That is beautiful
Nope, haven't even started the tree thing yet. But I'm thinking about stringing a bough of evergreen across the entrance between my living room and dining room. Gotta have that scent. Then putting lights on it, maybe a few ornaments, then putting my favorit ornaments in a big wooden bowl that I have, so that folks can look at each one...touch them and hold them. I've never done it like this, or even seen it, but it might look nice.
I remember Kelli and Vinnie really being on my case for being so slow in getting mine set up and with photos ...and rightly so I keep mine up to the 12th day of Christmas (Jan 6)

Our Dad bought a fake tree when we were kids. 1st year my older sister bought a small real tree & put it in another room, same thing the next year. Then the next year my brother & I went out & bought a small tree for our room. 4th year my Dad gave up, it was easier to decorate/clean up one tree then three

We'll do ours soon. We got my moms up after Thanksgiving dinner. It is a tradition to have the whole family decorate after eating. It's fun to do. I prefer a real tree but the last couple of years been using a artificial cause you can put it up early and take down late. I miss that xmas tree smell tho. Guess it's time for the seasonal candles. I usually get apple cinamon spice that reminds me of xmas. Havnt found a pine scented candle that doesnt smell like lysol tho.

Guess I'll drive up and get a little one after all. This tree will be like the ultimate cat toy though for my kitten..gotta think about how to keep the ornamants from turning into mini-pinatas.
Most of the tree lot trees are cut way in advance and dry out..getting one yourself gives you a tree that will last till February and it just costs five bucks for a timber permit.
