Cell phones and carriers

Need opinions, I was think about going with Verizon or Cingular. What would be a good phone to go with?

For Verizon...take a look at the LG phones. Samsung makes some good phones too, but you'll have to look at some of the customer reviews.

I haven't used Cingular, but have some experience with Qwest, AT&T, Sprint, Nextel and Verison. Of the four, Verison has had the best service for my purposes.

BTW, the LG phones are nice.

Thanks for the info. I currently have a LG and have been pretty happy with it. I was thinking about getting the Motorola V551. Anyone have experience with this phone?

Just upgrade our phones yesterday,,,I am with Verizon, very happy(good coverage in my rural area), picked out two LG phones for me and the wife,,nuttin fancy, just a flip with no hi end goodies,(camera ,push to talk etc.)
been with Verizon for a while, no problems , too early to tell on the new phones, but have been happy with the prev ones,,,,
'tween the past service ,and the reception coverage in my area, i give 'em a thumbs up....

That's what I have, the Verizon LG flip. Excellent little phone that does what I need. I leave it up to FishGirl to add the sounds and pictures!

I took it on the Western Tour this Summer and Verizon had the best coverage (according to their red zone maps) but there are several areas, such as parts of Nevada and in the Rockies where there was no signal. I don't think any company covers some of those areas. I have had the phone all over the Southeast and have coverage everywhere except in the middle of the Smokies where the Park Service doesn't allow towers. My plan has no roaming charges, nation-wide free long distance, and unlimited nights and weekends. I'm happy.

Yup Dick, I think my plan is 500 mins, free minutes to any other Verizon customer, free weekends/nights,I'm primary, wife's phone is secondary, monthly$ is: (i think) $49 + $20 for secondary,,,,,and share minutes,,never gone over minutes in prev plan, this time, got more minutes and is cheaper,,,,

I have more minutes than that but I make a lot of long distance calls and it's cheaper to use my cell phone than regular home phone. Strange, but by paying more for cell service, my total phone bills are now about half what they used to be!!
