Not sure about the date, Doug. I'm thinking it was early 1998. Remember that the board and join dates got scrambled with the server glitch many years ago and you got re-named? I lost my original join date and post count, too.

What really matters is that TRT has kept Brooke's original philosophy though ownership has changed a time or two. The fact that there have been many TRT gatherings with no reported knifings or serious fights speaks well for success of TRT's philosophy and sincere cameraderie of the group.

I have to say...when I got into this hobby I was totally overwhelmed. TRT helped to make me feel like I was doing ok and when I wasn't someone was there to tell me so.

I am glad I stumbled on this site as well...I would be a lot less happy at some of the other sites...and as Vince said this place is a part of my daily routine. As soon as I turn my computer on I open TRT...say hello and look for threads with LOTs of pics!

Thanks Doug and gang for starting something we are all proud to be a part of.

And besides the great family atmosphere and good support... TRT is free, most other sites are charging for the basic search functions and the little goodies we all enjoy here. Greg (our master and commander) has done a great job of running the site efficiently and with great cost effeciency. He is not out to make a profit on the site and that benefit is passed onto us. It is so nice not having to get up at 2AM to make a simple search.

The TRT family means a great deal to me. It's nice to be able to mention this site with pride and for folks on the outside see what kind of support is given around here.

And it's been great to meet so many folks in person

its basically a daily chat thread - a lot like the morning thread, but we talk on it all day long, all are welcome!

( it's for those that don't really do anything at their job during the day )

I remember the old flame boards, and didn't care for them, but that's where I met wonderful people (friends) like Dick and Doug, and I think I met Rick O there, too... and I think it was on TRT that I met Jeff, from about 2 hrs north of me and Steve, and no matter how long I might "have to be away", it's always just like family when I can get back here...

And then... after being on a few flaming parrot/bird boards... Gregt along with a handful of people who were sick of flame wars on bird boards, started the sis forum, Birds of a Feather www.thebirdforums.com and we've just never had a problem of much worry over there, and we're growing right along, and have had a good morning thread since its birth... and just finished our first "get-together", and what a fun time that was, with everyone's parrots along as well! Many flighted, flying about the house - what fun!

So anyhow, I'm really grateful TRT was born and has thrived and grown so well.

Thanks to all!

Shirleys much to modest, she was one of the original gang that hung out here and got this thing going, her sons were much younger then, it's been great to watch them mature into fine young men over the years
