Calling all Web Developers & Computer Geeks

I am looking for something, and I do not know if it exists.

I want to be able to have a map that geographically represents people. Almost like a paper map with push pins in it, for every reefkeeper. Each reef keeper would be represented by a "pin" in the map that could be clicked on (link). It could be fed by a text file, hardcoded in the page, Data Base, ...

It seems like a simple idea but I have had no success in finding it or implimenting it.

Making it programatic would allow it to be World Wide. By hand I ended up with my clumsy effort Midwest Coral Trading

Ideas? Suggestions?

Interesting , that sounds like an ambitious project, but one that could be great if someone can help you out.

Can you take one of the programs like mapquest and set landmarks in it?

Interesting idea, some people at RC pointed me to http://earth.google.com/ and I am trying to something very similar. Very very cool but it looks like anyone who wants to look at it would need to download a 10 Meg client
