Calling all cat people

I have two 6 year old tigers in my basement. Today we introduced a new black kitten. One of the tigers is scared to death and hisses and runs when the black cat is in sight. the other tiger will sniff the new cats butt wut will grown if they come face to face.

What is the best thing to do to get these cats along?

Leave them alone and let them work it out.

You could try placing the new cat in another room for a few days and let them get use to the scent through the door for a few days. Then slowly let the new cat have more and more freeedom over a week or so.

I say put them together and let them be. They will all assume their place in the pecking order one way or another. Trying to get involved or giving a environment different than what you plan on being the norm will just prolong how long it takes for them all to adjust

IME, they already know hes there, now somebody just needs their butt slightly kicked and all will be fine......... : )

Keep in mind that the butt kicking isnt necessarily just so the new guy knows his place........its also for the guys who have already been there get to show they are boss

yep, you can't force cats to get along. I listen to Calling all Pets and they suggest what Scruffy did... they say it can take months for cats to get used to each other... just let them be and don't force them.

My wife's cats are acting the same way now with the puppy in the house, the older one would hiss at the puppy but does not attack her, the younger cat is more of a risk taker and goes up to the dog when she is sleeping to sniff her. We try to pay special attention to the cats so they don't feel replaced or pushed aside. But they would not come to us is we are with the puppy.

one thing that may help, put some vanilla or vicks vaporub on each cats nose. then when they sniff each other for the next few days they will all smell the same until the stuff wears off. when it wears off the new cat should be broken in.
