Bob & Drew...Xenia updates and such
Hello Bob and Drew,
I thought you should know that the Xenia frags you dropped off are doing GREAT! The other xenias I have never have opened up much, not at all like yours are doing!
Also, the yellow zoos are looking great, too!
When did you all get MH lighting?? Doesn't it look grand? I love all the little reflections it gives in the water.
We hope to come to the New Pal area some Saturday before Christmas...maybe next Sat. I'll let you know if we do, and maybe we can stop for a visit.

Shirley,
Glad to hear the frags are doing well...the shrooms are looking good also...in fact, all of our corals are looking pretty good (came from good stock, huh?); we don't have the rampant growth some people talk about, but we do have growth, so I can't complain about that....The only prob I have is the corals don't seem to have much color and I'm guessing it because of lack of blue lighting....
we put the MH in the new tank cause of the wierd shape of the tank...24" deep but only 18" across (hex). max length could have been 20" and I couldn't figure how to get enough light to go to the bottom and still be under 20 " long...sooooo.....I;m using an Iwasaki 230W 6500 bulb, but do not have any actinic supplment. Still trying to figure out how to fit it under there...Will a 4000K bulb with a blue lense still feed algae the same as if it were open..I know it wouldn't be "actinic" but the blue would enhance the eye appeal a little....
yes the glittler line thingys look pretty neat...it sure heats up the water tho...stays between 80 and 82...heater only comes on at night....
camera is on loan to go-worker of Gail's....soon as we get it back, I post some pics....is going pretty good so far....
visit sounds good, but next Sat might be kinda quiet around here. I work during the day and I promised my daughter I'd take her to the IU-Purdue game Sat night. You're more than welcome to stop by; the dogs would love to see you...we'll definitely make it soon...

Hi Bob,
I'll pass on the visit with the dogs... got enough critters of my own demanding attention!
Can you fit a small PC actinic unit under there? They make them for those little minireef tanks....
We never run heaters; the water stays pretty close to 80 in the MH-lit tank and 78 in the PC-lit tank, and doesn't drop much at all at night.
I'm glad your corals are all doing so well. Mine are doing real well at the moment...
Have you been to the new Uncle Bill's yet???? Ask the manager to show you the room behind his tanks that runs his entire f/w-s/w system....you will be impressed, to say the least. Take Drew with you. He (the mgr) will show you all sorts of things. Tell him the people from N/ville who had their cockatoo with them saw it and that he said he'd show you, too (he did say he'd show you) His name is Joe. He's a real nice guy.
Anyone else reading this...if you come to Indy you gotta see his back room. It's on E. Washington Street across from the cemetary on the S. side of the road in a strip mall area, I think. (Just East of I-465) Uncle Bill's Petshop. Just opened in new location 11/21 or so.
We'll get together another time, Bob. Tell me when and I'll try to arrange it.
Take care, and tell Drew I said "Hi!"

I don't even hear Shelby anymore. People come over and jump and I look at them like, ~ what's wrong...then it occurs to me that there's this noise like someone is being tortured in the kitchen....
Yes, bring him!
