bathroom plumbing question

Both my toilets are acting weird. It's like they caught it from each other.

It's the ole running problem... sometimes the chain attached to the flapper gets underneath the flapper and makes the toilet run. Which makes the water bill go up. Which makes cath go into shock.

Since I am a reefer, paying a plumber to come to my house is not an option. Is there a easy and cheap way to fix them?

Can you shorten the chain? Usually that will fix it.

Another thing to look for is a worn out flapper. They sometimes warp and don't seal properly. You should be able to replace it for under $5 from Ace or True Value.

Hi RW-

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll try the chain thing tonight, and if that doesn't work, I'll look for a new flap. I may even do both

We are having a similar problem with one of our toilets. The flap does not always close when it gets flushed and the toilet keeps running. We bought a whole new internal kit several months ago. It is still in its original packaging under the sink.

If you take the chain and cut it to the length from the flapper to the end of the handle bar inside the tank you can then adjust it closer or further from the handle to make it so it doesnt rest on the chain when the flapper closes.

Speaking of toilets, the bolts in our hall bathroom toilet are loose, so whenever you sit down, the toilet wiggles. How do you fix this, or do we need to send a plumber out?

Hey, Freckles! Last night I went to HD, and got new flappers for my toilets, and while I was there, I found neat (free!!) info on toilet problems put out by Fluidmaster® On one side there is a description of how toilets are secured to the floor, etc Here's their web site.

HTH...

now I'm going back to work on mine. Yeeee hawwww!
