Perry, I had exactly that of course (the traditional Irish breakfast) with the black and white pudding and baked beans. I forgot to take a pic of that though!

Thats OK, my daughter is heart set on going someday, come to think of it, when her ex turned down a posting to Scotland as final duty station before he retired thats when things seemed to fall apart. But some day, perhaos I can take her and the lads

after spending 7 months living in Ireland, i know that you had a great time. you picked a fantastic time to visit. i am sure the weather was amazing!
did you do the Ring also, or just the Dingle?
did you go to the Aran island?
we want more pics and details.
did you have a Murphy's or a Beamish also?

Sorry for the delay on the responses, I've been pretty busy working at a small animal clinic. Long days and just go to sleep when I get back.
Glad to see you lived in Ireland Geoff!! That's awesome! We wanted to do the ring, but it's sooo touristy and only had a day that driving on the small road with all the large tour buses for hours and hours didn't seem as much fun as Dingle (which took us 3 hours anyways). Really wanted to do the Aran Islands and what not but it was raining and would make for a wet trip. I will post more pics this weekend!!! I need to get my pics from Janet.

I am planning a trip there next year in May for my wife's 40th birthday. And we are thinking of going to the same places as you. Did you do a self driving tour, or did you just rent a car and go where you wanted?
Myself I am interested in the neolithic age, so I want to see as many megaliths as I can, for example in Burren.
Any places you would say are must see places? Any places that are overrated? Any places you missed that you really wanted to see?
What is the ring?

We rented a car and drove. It's a lot of driving but I really feel that was better because we could go at our own pace and what not. Gas is expensive but we could go 10 hours on a tank, which is unheard of here.
What is a megalith? There were some very cool islands I wanted to check out (Skellig Michael I believe, but the boat can only land on calm days and you need to book it in advance). The ring is a BEAUTIFUL area that has breathtaking views. It's supposed to be just outstanding (called the Ring of Kerry). We got a book--I can find out the name later--that said that ring is great but very touristy and has too many buses now. The book suggested doing a tour in Dingle and that's what we decided. The entire Ring of Kerry is 120 miles, whereas the Dingle Penninsula was 30. I really recommend seeing the west side of Ireland versus the cities if you had to pick. We did both and I loved the west side much better. We stayed at a WONDERFUL (very very nice man and outstanding service and views) in Dungarvan. If you think you might go by there I will give you the name! It was a bed and breakfast built in 1878. I didn't get to go to Burren but would have loved to. Check out Skellig Michael. I reallly think you might be interested in that if megaliths are what I think they are.

Megalith just means big rock.
But it specificaly refers to neolithic or chalcolithic age structures that are either astronomical or burial sites. Stonehenge is a megalithic structure of the astronomical type.
And throughout Ireland they have various structures, tombs and whatnot.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megalith
Burren has thousands of them and you can just walk in up and over them.
And there are other famous structures like Newgrange.

It sounded awesome in the book I had. I would definitely try to go and book it early and hope that the weather is calm! Please send me pics (next year I thought you said) if you go. I will definitely try to go next time I'm there!
