Are you ready for the new changes to Daylight Saving Time?
Thanks to Congress, with the exception of my computers, any electronic equipment that I have that automaticly changes for DST now has to be changed manually.
So if you are running Windows XP you'll need to install this patch to have your computer automaticly adjust to daylight saving time...

It's only 7 weeks away and they still haven't upgraded the PCs at work. I'm sure it will be a last minute rush job....as usual.

In Aug. 2005, Congress passed an energy bill that included extending Daylight Saving Time by about a month. Beginning in 2007, DST will start the second Sunday of March and end on the first Sunday of November.

Good heads up there. I didn't even know about it. I haven't heard anything from our IT dept. here as to getting our systems updated.

Actually I don't think it is. There is an update on microsoft's website for it and I've found numerous articles on it.

Copied from Wikipedia.com
DST commonly begins in the northern hemisphere on the last Sunday in March or the first Sunday in April, and ends on the last Sunday in October. However, due to the Energy Policy Act of 2005, beginning in 2007, the United States will begin observing DST from the second Sunday in March until the first Sunday in November. (Studies will determine if this remains permanent.) Most of Canada will also observe the new period to avoid possible economic losses from confusion with the United States. Since 2002, the European Union has fixed the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October as start and end dates (European Summer Time).

I'm a low man on the totem pole in the IT dept at the Dept. of Labor in DC...they don't know anything about it either.
I remember when the energy bill passed in 2005...kept thinking to myself that it's going to be like Y2K compliance all over again. I'm sure the closer we get the more you'll hear about it in the news.
I'm patching my two computers at home this weekend after I get back from the LFS in PA. Not sure what Apple has for the Mac users yet, don't even know if it's a problem for them.

Do any of you remember in '75 or '76 Jimmy Carter completely did away with DST one year. It was supposed to save us energy but I still haven't figured out how. I remember it was still dark when school started.

I love Jimmy Carter for his work as a humanitarian, but geez I can't drive 55 and a speedo that stops at 85 is just a nighmare. This is not a political statement.

I remember that the national speedlimit WAS going to be 50. 55 seems so slow now. On an unrelated note I never got over 10 MPH on I-75 this morning. 2 hours to get to work. A new record. I'm ready to move.
