April Fools Day planning..

Yes, I plan this far ahead.

So, I have everything I need for at least a half dozen good pranks on my roommates. However, I am in need of some glue. Not just any old glue, I need something that will hold at least a pound for 12-24 hours and then quit. It doesn't have to instantly lose its "stickiness", but it should at least be pliable after a certain period of time.

I’ll tell you what one idea for the glue is. Two of my roommates have rather large shoe collections and don’t feel the need to put them in their own rooms; instead they line the hall and living room floors. Since we have tons of empty space above our heads, I figured I’d tidy up a bit and give them some more floor space.

So, does anyone have any personal experience with glue of this nature? I am searching online, but have not found a definite source and/or retailer for anything like this yet. I have not visited our local hardware and/or craft stores, but I will have some time over spring break to stock up.

Cheers,
Marty

No personal experience, but I wish you luck on your April Fools joke. Just don't kill anybody!

how long do you need for it to set? I would say elmers wood glue but that may take too long to stick. otherwise you might try rubber cement or silly-cone. then they could peel it off.

I would prefer an almost instant cure time, ie: less than 1 minute. This lends itself to superglue, but I don't want to do permanant damage to anything. After all, these are merely pranks and are not/should not be designed to do serious damage. If I can find no glue that is satisfactory, then I will get a few rolls of duct tape and do it that way.

I'll also be making some fairly massive spider webs out of yarn and thread infront of their bedroom doors, so the glue would come in handy here as well. If I remember I'll snap some pictures before anyone wakes up.

Boredom is the mother of all invention.

Cheers,
Marty

Dang, would never have though of that. I believe that's item number 8 on my list now, thank you.

As for the glue, I realized I have a marine goop that dries fairly rubbery, but is also easily pulled off. I'll be testing with this, hot glue and a rubber cement to determine which is best.

Cheers,
Marty

Hot glue will peel off a smooth surface if it is not porous easily. I would get some of that green stick on stuff you can use for pictures and things at your craft store. It won't take off the paint unless you have nasty cheap flat kind.

I've moved past the small little gags like the toilet seat and fake poop, but they are fun if used correctly. Here's my list as of today, but I doubt it will remain unchanged...

1. Paper cup pyramids infront of bedroom doors. Luckily, their doors all open into their bedrooms. I plan on using about 200 cups per door (3 doors) and filling random cups with water, so they can't just bulldoze through it. I will add a small sign noting the water.
2. Glueing shoes and other personal items to ceiling.
3. Saran wrapping their cars. I've done this a dozen times to friends at work, at home, on a date!; and with upwards of two dozen rolls stock piled so far, their three cars will get about 1200 sq ft of wrap each. (This is my personal favorite, I am the Wrap Master )
4. This one is dangerous if not applied correctly!!! I know a forumla for a paste that, when dry, is very touch sensitive and will explode if even a feather touches it. I plan to put this paste on the cabinets in the kitchen, among other places. It will be on the parts where they're not able to grab to open them, so there is no risk of injury.
5. Will be adding food coloring to their milk, juice and water. Simple, but just imagine opening the fridge and seeing three gallons of milk, one red, one blue, one green. I may even put some in my own milk, just for kicks.
6. Yarn spider webs. This will cover the upper half of their door frames, above the paper cups. Yarn is really cheap.
7. Plastic utensils glued just about everywhere I can't do any of the above to...
8. Either vaseline or glycerin on their door knobs. I think glycerin might evaporate too quickly, but we will have to see.

Remeber folks, none of these should do permanent damage if applied correctly! Pranks are not ment to seriously injure, maim, blind or otherwise damage people and their belongings! If you plan correctly, your friends will just be happy its all over with and their stuff is back to normal!

Cheers,
Marty

PS. I usually don't mess with bathrooms. I do like the shower kool aid however, so I will be investigating that futher...

9. Ya know the faucet sprayer on the kitchen sink- you can put a rubberband on it so that it stays on and when they turn on the water, they get sprayed.... he he
