Anyone own or breed Mastiffs?

Hey guys! I have been researching Mastiffs for a while and have talked to a few owners too, but I must come to y'all for a final opinion! (of course) My wife nixed the tank upgrade I wanted but said we could spend the money on a pet for the whole family to enjoy. I couldn't really argue that point to much especially with my 3 kids going 'Ya, daddy, let's get a dog, a big one!' So I figured I go really big! We have gone a visited a couple places local to us and checked out litters and parents - and everyone likes the dogs. We have a good sized yard and Mom stays home with the kids during the day, so it will never be lonely. I have heard a Mastiff loves to part of the family, which is another thing we want in a dog. I'm not sure if we should get a male or female either. Getting a second dog in a year or two isn't out of the question but we're sure where to start. My wife likes the brindle look, but I like the fawn. Although, if we get a male I want fawn, but a female I would be ok with brindle. I just wanted to hear from some of you that have experience with a Mastiff. Thanks for your help and opinions guys!

Dave,
You lucky SOB. I've had 2 bulls. One of each sex. The female was much more cuddly than the male. She was a 120 lb lap dog as far as she was concerned. Both my male and my neighbors were great dogs, but when I get to get another one it'll be a female. As for color, my female was fawn and the male was red. I like the brindle, but you never know what you're gonna get. To hard to tell when the dogs a pup. Good luck and I want PICS!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm...go with a Fila. They are a large breed mastif, and can make great loyal family pets! Mom and I have had two of them.

When you go and buy the supplies for your dog, remember to buy a BIG pooper scooper. Big dog = big..... well you get the idea

mastiffs are a great family pet, and will keep your home free from theives better that a "adt" sign stuck in the frontyard! my sister just got an irish wolfhound pup. of course the pup almost up to my hip, so, its about 1/2way grown so far! these dogs get really B I G, they expect him to reach about 145lbs., right now he weights about 80lbs.
i'd like to get a carlin pincher, sometimes called a pugpin or miniture rotty. it a crossbreed of a miniture pincher and a pug, a tuff feisty little dog!
