Anyone ever watch that show....

i think its "Most Dangerous Catch" where they are following the king crabbers up in the bering sea.... its on Discovery channel... they had a semi-marathon on last night, it has been 3 episodes so far i think, i had only managed to watch the first on its scheduled Tuesday eevning run, so it was nice to be able to catch up last night....

but anyway, its quite fascinating, i had heard a good deal about how they do their jobs but never actually saw much about it... living somewhat coastal up here in Maine i am also not totally unaware of the fishing industry and how grueling and tough it is... but that show sure keeps my interest.

Wish it was something i could try, but they guys are superstitious still and even if i could keep up, i don't think they could bring themselves to have a female crewmate... but man alive, those guys somehow work through ocean conditions that would make cruiseliner tourists mess their grundies! LOL

Saw it last night....think I'll keep my day job!

I thought the greenhorn from California wouldn't make it but he seems to be hanging on. Tough crewboss...made him bite the head off a big herring as part of the greenhorn initiation.

The California boy really did a good job.. took it all in stride, excellent attitude. With that outlook and that experience on his resume...i don't think much will get in his way. (he was smiling the whole time he was duct taped to the beam, and finally got the Captain's handshake.)

i like Sig and Edgar

i think the older Navy man was just happy to have gotten through it

i watched what i think was the final episode on the King Crab season, last night they started another type of crab and one of the boats capsized and they only found one survivor and one who didn't make it

I watched this as well. I could not handle those kind of seas. As an old submariner I preferred cruising along under the water.

As for biting the head off of a herring that is not that big of a deal..just leave me on the dock to cast off the lines and wave bye.

I do believe that crabbing is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. I didnt see the show you are talking about but I have seen documentories on it before. Almost went for that after high school and Im very glad I didnt. That is some crazy weather and seas they deal with. Im happy to watch on T.V.!
