another legend passes on, Ray Charles at 73.

It hard to image that another great american musical icon has passed on. I had hoped that we wouldn't lose another great performer like Johnny Cash, but now Ray Charles has left us now. Like Johnny, Ray's music spanned several decades, from his start in country music some 50 years ago, Ray crossed over to gospel, jazz, blues, and rock and roll. His voice had such a powerful emotion to it, you could feel it deep inside you. His voice could invoke tears to flow from your eyes when he sang "America the Beautiful", or make you jump up and "shake your tailfeather". He was a true class act, and a great showman.

Rest in peace, Brother Ray.

I still remember the concert he performed in, with Riley "B.B." King, here in Manila, a decade-plus ago. Concert aside, he and B.B. held a free music clinic for young guitarists, pianists and such, one afternoon, and I got to sit in.

Wonderful old man, really into making music for and with others.

Ray Was an Americam music Icon, his influence went way beyond Genre, sadly we are starting to lose a lot of the old masters that actually had talent, voice and the ability to transcend genre to influence several generations
