another computer question

I need or want to take two media files i have and combine them as one. when i play it i want to hear both at the same time.
i have windows media player.
is there a way to over lay them?

I don't think windows media player will do that. You will need editing software to do that. I'm familiar with video editing software not audio editing software so I can't make any recommendations for that.

i have some time to play dont need it until holloween

if u have xp or vista windows movie maker will do it i think. not 100% that u can modify audio files though if thats what it is, worth a shot though

do a search for freeware DJ software. you eill find plenty of software

A program called Audacity should do just the trick. Its real simple to use since its basically drag and drop.

if you want to make the final file in .mp3 format, you will need an extra addon called "LAME" which is available on that same site.

If that doesn't work, look for Goldwave. It's one of the best audio editing packages I've come accross (without going into professional software).
