Angry

Need to vent. As alot of you know I work as a Manager for a large Home Improvement Big Box retailer. I have taken on an issue involving a 90 yr old woman who came in and bought a custom kitchen from us. (shes also a widow) Today was the third time that the cabinet company has sent her kitchen to her house damaged. She has been with out a kitchen for over a month. This is a smart woman and very strong willed. But she is 90 and cant do all the things we tend to take for granted. At first we butted heads. I run my buisness and try to balance both sides.
Last time I talked to the district manager for the cabinet company he said" I dont think you are looking out for the best interest of my comapany" Do Ya Think Jack A**? He has made no effort to take care of this lady. After today the kitchen arrived at her house one more time, worse than the two previous times.
If this idiot doesnt take care of this lady post haste Im going to bring so much trouyble into his world he'll wish he was flippin burgers at Miccy D's. This lady is beyond being mad. She wants to give them one more chance. They wont expidite the order ever. If Mr DM doesnt fix it within three days Im going to his boss and if that doesnt work Im going to my corporate and reviel some unknown numbers to thenm about this cabinet company, whom is under contract with my company to provide a certain level of service.
I am so burnt I cant sleep. if need be I will make a very loud public noise about this company and what they consider service and whats important to the managers of that company. I may only be store level in my company, but I know some very influential people and will exact payment of some kind for this lady. And a new kitchen. I ahte people like this jerk. What a puke.
Okay, Im done.

Robert

If you have the juice, give her a better kitchen NOW, take it off the shelf, and work it out with everyone else later. The supplier of the bad ones will make up the difference, if he really is wrong and he get's a wiff of losing you guy's.

I deal with this stuff all the time, "if" your right it'll work out, if your wrong, well.

"Last time I talked to the district manager for the cabinet company he said" I dont think you are looking out for the best interest of my comapany" "
That alone would have me fueming!!! His intrest is that lady, with out her he wouldn't exist. IMO

Good for you, Robert!

One of my cousins sent me a list of 'rules to live by' and you fit #4:

4. Stand Up!!...
For what you believe in.
Stand for something or you will fall for anything..
"Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time,
we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good..."

Galatians 6:9-10

Thanks everyone. DSB, I cant take one off of the shelf, this is all custom. Im going to upgrade her to a different vendor and eat it if I have to. But Im going to take this diiot down. See, if a customer gets to me, the other Managers have not had luck, and need someone who will basically steamroll the problem. In this case its the Cabinet Company. But with the time frame that has passed Im not waiting for this ass to make it right. If they dont do whats right they will notice a sharp decline in the number of sales in our district, at least. Mt store alone is a $70 million store in annual sales. (total) Ill bet when his numbers fall out hell sing a different song if he still has a voice. I prefer to take his voice away htough.

Robert...I know you're ticked, but I thank you for sharing.

Nice to hear the other side. I've had this kind of crap happen to me, and it's nice to hear that sometimes, the manager/salesguy/contractor is just as frustrated as you are.

Keep us posted, and hang in there!!!

Good Call Robert, to often people get hung up in counting beans and passing the buck, they tend to lose sight of the fact that that little old lady is the ONLY reason that company can stay in business. And if he can't see that then he needs to be taught a lesson

This is why I no longer work for the big 'blue' box retailer, well that and working 65 hrs a week for a 45 hour salary...

"Mr. DM, her money is spent, the product is damaged, she is my customer who could have chosen my competitor just as I will chose your competitor next time. The lady who paid the money for your cabinets does not give a sh&* about the best interest of your company. Nor do you or you would be driving the delivery truck, which would be in route to her house at this moment, to be sure she gets what she paid for this now the 3rd time. ...and the horse you rode in on."

Dang that felt good!

Okay, well I got her all taken care of cabinets there today and our installer. Now it comes to light that the guy who owns our install company (sub) wont do her job personally because she has been so abusive verbally in the past. He sent his sone who is a great installer and very much a perfectionist. Well, my customer ripprd him up one side and down the other. He is about to walk away and then she will be out an installation. She is saying we promised number one and are giving her number two. I know whwere shes coming from but its not so. She wont listen to anyone and is about to work herself into a spot from wich I wont be able to help her.
Just got off the phone with my install supervisor. She is going to beg my main installer to please do this. They all know that I raraely go to these lengths so when I want something above and beyond there is a reason. This customer is being difficult at this point but I dont think she realizes the position shes about to put herself in. Man I hope this works. Oh and I have a meeting tomorow with the Cabinet company Regional boss tomorow! Got some good info for him!
This customer will not listen to anyone but me now, shes all of 90 pounds and hase me way outclassed when it comes to stubborness! Very few people can out do me when it comes to being stubborn!!!!

Sounds like everyone that can needs to chill out a bit and step back. It seems like all involved are fired up and this will do nothing but cause stress for everyone. The lady buying the cabinets will never be satisfied and will not change. The goal of everyone else is to get some cabinets in there, get paid and get the hell out of there.

I would let that cabinet district manager know the facts as objectively as possible and see if he can straighten this out a bit. You might get lucky and find him to be a good listener which might pacify the customer. Hopefully you can renew the vendor relationship as well. There are idiot mid level folks in every walk of life, and they will eventually get pushed to the side RIP (retired in position).
