Hmmmmmm hard to quantify since there are so many Genres, But RoadHouse I will always stop and watch if I come across it surfing. For SciFi, Alien and Aliens are prolly my faves, tho i have to say I really was amazed at Alien vs Predator, it was a lot better than I thought it would be.
I was surfing tonite and Caught the last half of The Last Samurai, I had forgotten what an excellent movie that is, and mind you I am not a Tom Cruise fan, but the story captures a monumental upheaval in Japan. Its hard to follow the intricasies if you arent aware of the history of the Samurai or Bushido, but its a great action film with a romantic tension, the battle re-enactments are awesome

For me it was "The Green Mile" with Tom Hanks. Of course the book was so much better. My favorite comedy is "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking your Juice in the Hood"

My favorites are mostly oldies, from the days when acting, not glitzy computerized special effects, made the movie. It would be hard to pick #1, but my top list would include South Pacific, Midway, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, The African Queen, Lawrence of Arabia, Casa Blanca, Ben Hur, The African Queen, Forest Gump, and a few others I can't think of.
My next door neighbor and close friend owns the local movie theater but the only movie I've been to in his theater the last few years is The Passion of Christ.

Hard to pick just one, but I'm always willing to watch a Kubrick film.

Ah yes.....The Shining (By Kubrik) is definetly in my top 10.
Full metal Jacket was very good aswell.
And another in my top 10 (not a Kubrik) would have to be Scarface.

Lord of the Rings
Shawshank Redemption
Original Star Wars Trilogy (before the 'extra' computer junk)
Saving Private Ryan
BAND OF BROTHERS - Who can't include that one!
Full Metal Jacket - of course
Many to list, but those are in the tops.
