Added all my change up.......

Hello, I added all my change up and got about $100 and think i know what i want to put it towards. I have been posting things on here about getting a RO/DI unit. I would like to get a nice unit now i have about $200 to play with. What are some good brands of units around that price?

I know AquaFX has some good models, that's where I plan to get my next one.

Spectra pure is supposed to be an excellent brand, havn't heard anything bad about kent either.

I was looking at some kent RO/DI and they have a Kent Maxixima, and a Kent Maxxima Hi-S. Whats the difference between the two?

The hi-s, I believe is if you have high silicates in your tap water (special pre-filters included). The normal Maxxima is just plain old RO/DI.

I didnt see any aquasafe RO/DI on ebay at all, maybe im not looking in the right place. Im not a big ebay fan to begin with, if possible i would like to try and stay away from ebay. Right now i like the Kent Hi-S 35GPD unit from Marine Depot. Not sure if my water has high silicates or not
Its tax free from buyin on internet and free shipping because its over $175. I think the price was right at $185.

Filter Direct on Ebay, you can also search for Water General.

I got the Filter Direct 110 GPD 6 stage. I think it was around $90
1st stage - sediment
2nd stage - carbon or sediment...I can't remember.
3rd stage - carbon
4th stage - RO
5th stage - DI
6th stage - carbon for flavor polishing (removed this, it's worthless and added TDS)

So I only run the first 5 stages. I have well water with high silicates (off the color range for the Seachem Silicates test kit). It's been in use for over a year and is only putting out 4ppm TDS after the DI unit...not too shabby.

I did end up having to get a booster pump (bigger than the normal booster pump with a bigger price tag too, rated for 50 gpd+ RO/DI units) for the water pressure. House water pressure is only 40 psi, which is minimum opperating pressure, factor in cold water and it was putting out MAYBE 40 GPD. I have the booster pump plumbed between the 3rd stage carbon filter and the 4th stage RO/DI unit. It opperates at 110 psi (I think the max operating pressure for my filter is 160 psi) and is now closer to 90 or 100 GPD.

Quick question about RO/DI. I was reading a review on the Kent and it said the waste water ratio was 3 to 1. Is that 3 gallons of good water to 1 gallon of waste or the other way around?? Here is the link that i saw that in. Its about 1/2 down the page.
