A couple leads.

I have a couple leads on new jobs. One is in Chicago doing about the same thing I am doing now except with metal instead of paper. The other one is in San Fernando, Cali, doing something alot different. I have to take a phone interview next week for the San Fernando job and I have to go to the place in Chicago for that one next Friday. I really want the one in San Fernando, it really sounds like it could lead to a very fulfilling career. The bad news is that I would have to start all over and sell all my local property and buy all new property in cali. Not to mention start all over on the fish tanks.

If I move to Cali the tanks will not be coming. I will get a huge 8 foot by 4 foot by 4 foot tank and maybe one of the 90s for the anemanes, but, I think I will go with a 110.

Not to hammer on an old thread but life in the valley is different. It is hot, hard to make more friends with more than a facade to offer and expensive.

You gotta be the right sort to take on LA. I am currently moving towards the extreme opposite. The only good thing is that you are at the epicenter of prOn.

Go to a couple of recruiting trips and bring your fair half. I moved back to SoCal for the coin, and then realized being able to let your dog run around without getting a ticket and cutting down your own Xmas tree was what worked for me.

They are offering double what I am making now. I like hot. I don't ever want a dog. I like prOn. I don't have any friends now.

Jason, good luck with the job decision. The Windy City and SoCal are worlds apart, not just in distance!!! It sounds like you're doing your homework and am sure you'll make the right choice for you.

I lived in SoCal for 5 years many years ago and spent some time there visiting friends on our Western Tour. Best decision I ever made to leave the career opportunities of Cal. for the green hills of home. No way would I ever consider living there again! Too much of everything, especially people! Also, be prepared for some sticker shock in the housing market. Don't know about Chicago either; I'm not a big city person but that's just me.

I don't like animals, I hate the cold, I don't ever want to mow grass again, I need a tan, ETC....

I know they are worlds apart but... I lived in Houston for a while and I loved the fact that the sun never went away. It was something you could count on.

I should be able to bring about 150 to 200k with me put a down payment on a house. Maybe a condo.

My 100k+ house would be worth 300k+ in LA.

Well there are positives..like Jillian Barberiee doing the weather..and she lives in the Valley as well. Also, um they used to have a football franchise, actually two. Go see Universal Studios, the Rose Parade or any other attraction too..there are only a million people at each one, water is a mere six bucks and you get to have nice conversations waiting in line.

I am gonna keep my morning visit with Blitz's moose buddy and hang with our local OFR's that don't have a tank but are crazy enough to still race snowmobiles in the Old Mans race.
