8 million workers lose OT?

The Bush Administration is proposing a change to the labor laws. Either this article or this proposal is really confusing...has anyone been following this?

I'd say if you're an employer it might be good news, if you're a work-a-day Joe like most of us, this might really, well..suck.

new OT proposal

Not majoring in business, and look at it from a grunt point of view , I find that scary. High educated proffesionals like lawyers, Doctors and such are often salaried at levels way above the typical getting by laborer. I think this should be a negotiated thing between employer and employee. IE if I go to law or Med school and accept a position paying a LOT of money, and its salaried, I know that going into the deal.
If I get redefined as a mid level manager because i direct 3 people and thye gov says I am now salary, I am screwed, because now there are no recourses open to me if I am required to put in longer hrs to do my work

however as that mid level salaried manager you will still get more than if you worked 40 hours a week regular time. As I understand it now a person has to make x $ salary per year or they must remain hourly. If this change happens then that person could be salary even below that x $ mark now. However ime salaries are more negotiable than hourly wages. I may be wrong but this may not be all bad.

So if you make over 65000 a year you will become salaried employee? i work for the railroad, and everyone says that if this happens, then the "quality" of work will go drastically down. And if that happens, how is the company going to make profit? Or even hire people who care? I mean we get about 40 hours OT a week. If this happens, you bet that people will be upset. Maybe i didnt read it right, but thats what i got from it. Correct me please if im wrong.
