2 way satellite connection for puter

OK folks, today after waiting almost 30 minutes for a large article download only to have the article shutdown the system before finishing, I have decided it is timie to find an alternative to dialup. DSL is not available here. Cable is almost 4 miles away, although the cable co said that they would consider hooking me up if I paid an access fee (read as pay for the cable to be laid out to this location... ). I already have satellite TV (DishTV), and I have heard of the new 2 way systems for dish satellites, anyone have some good feedback on these systems, and/or info on some pros and cons?

We had Direcway and it worked alright until we had a problem. We called about ten times to try to get it fixed and they always transferred us to "advanced" technical support which was in a country where English was not their native language. Anyway, long story short after a month of them refusing to send someone out ( even after some of the diagnostics said there was a bad coaxial cable) we cancelled. We ended up paying for a month and a half of service we didn't get because it didn't work. Also, our service alone was around $65 a month. If you decide to do it I have all the hardware you would need for a cheap price . The hardware alone ran about $600.

Ouch

Tom, ask Mike what kind of satellite system he was using, I know he had a bunch of problems...but it may have just been the ISP. I don't rightly remember.

Yup! That's what I was thinking too, Alice. Mike's connectivity is not stable. As far as that goes, Tom, I know someone in the hinterlands of the Columbia area, and he has satellite too. Seems to be unstable as well.

Look into a local wireless ISP
I refuse to pay $600 for upgrade dish and $50+ a month
